Overeating: It is not a surprise that our country is facing an issue when it comes to eating healthy and maintaining a normal weight. Obesity and an unbalanced diet lead to many complications that lead to complications with heart health. Poor diet can cause high cholesterol and high blood pressure, which increase your chances of heart disease and heart attack.

 

Excessive Drinking: While it is true that some studies have shown small amounts of alcohol can have health benefits for your heart, drinking in excess has the exact opposite effect. This is because excessive alcohol consumption has been directly linked to high blood pressure, high levels of blood fats, and even heart failure. Additionally, excessive drinking can cause weight gain, which as mentioned above also has a negative influence on your heart health.

 

Smoking Cigarettes: It has been well known for a long time that smoking cigarettes is terrible for your health, but especially terrible for your heart. Smoking cigarettes can cause blood clots, meaning you can block the blood flow to your heart. Cigarettes promote plaque buildup in your arteries making them a disaster for your health.

 

High Sodium Diet: Not all foods are made equally! Snacking on foods with high levels of salt in them causes your blood pressure to rise. High blood pressure is not only incredibly dangerous for your heart, by making you at a higher risk for a heart attack, it is also dangerous for your kidneys.

 

Not Listening To Your Body: Many of us have a hard time identifying and listening to symptoms of a problem that our bodies may be giving us. Listen to your body, pay attention to changes, and see a doctor regularly!
